I enjoy making words work. I am an editor. A writer. A content strategist. An embryonic storyteller. I realized something recently about my career. What I enjoy the most is creating and sharing useful information for the folks I’m writing for. My favorite comment about my work was from an inform magazine reader. He had been trying for years to implement an ECM project in his company. He plunked down an article from inform on his boss’ desk and said “This is why.” He received permissions and implemented a successful system that help the company save time and money. It felt great to hear that. Like it felt great to hear from people who had hung posters (yeah, infographics used to be called posters!) from the magazine on their walls. My entire working life has been focused on identifying topics to write about myself or assigning to others to write that help the audience I served improve how they use technology (ECM, copiers, managed IT, etc.). If there are words in it, I’ve either written or edited it — a magazine, multiple websites, webinars, infographics (including printed posters), blogs, calls to action, landing pages, email campaigns, newsletters, ebooks, tip sheets, and even videos.

After earning a degree in creative writing, I spent six years working for a global ministry as an in-house copywriter and editor. While there I worked on marketing emails, web content, newsletters, curriculum, ebooks, content marketing and more. During that time I began editing and ghostwriting full-length books and have spent the past 9 years as a freelance writer and editor, focusing on blog posts, articles, content marketing, and ghostwriting. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with degrees in History and the Study of Religion. Writing has always been my calling — I immediately began a career in copywriting and never looked back. I’ve worked as a professional copywriter for nearly ten years and have published work in the fields of travel, technology, fitness, finance, and education. After earning a certification in TEFL from the University of Cambridge, I taught English internationally for several years. As of 2019, I live and work in Southern California.
