Kojima and the fight for freedom

This is a writing sample from Scripted writer Chris King

The controversy surrounding Konami and one of their largest assets, Hideo Kojima has still been largely under wraps but what we have been told about the situation so far is little more than simply heartbreaking. On March 19th of this year Konami had removed Kojima's name along with the Kojima production logo from their website and all subsequent marketing material. This later led to a statement from Konami themselves that said "As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business. Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements." Later that same day it was announced through IGN that Hideo Kojima would be leaving Konami after the completion of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This was a devastating blow to fans as it seemingly marked the end of any future Metal Gear and Silent Hill games. That is until the next day when Konami and Kojima released a joint statement announcing that they would continue the Metal Gear series without Kojima. This was solidified the following day on March 20th when job listings for a new Metal Gear series appeared on Konami's website. Later that month on the 31st Kojima's name was removed also from the official site of the much anticipated Silent Hills game. This was justified by Konami by stating that it was a further part of their rebranding. However they still will not comment on Kojima's involvement with the project leaving many People to believe that Silent Hills is dead in the water at this point. More recently as of April 2nd Kojima's name has been returned to product listings for certain Metal Gear games such as Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. As more news comes to light about the proverbial clash of the titans between Hideo Kojima and Konami you can be sure that we will be the first to deliver it to your screen.
