I am grateful that there are so many friends and family here today, even the ones that couldn't come today but that have shown their support in the past several months. My father was a very strong man. He dealt with heart complications and cancer for so many years and still walked around with his head held high. Whenever it comes to mind, all I could do is smile and completely admire the superhero that he was. He was a fierce friend to all that knew him. He was incredibly kind, offering aid to anyone even those that do not ask, for it was not only his civil duty, but it came from deep within his heart. As a husband, even for disagreements between him and my mother, life was still calm at home. No outbursts, no "unfortunate" situations… just love and peace in the household. My parents had a deep understanding between each other that sometimes it almost seemed they could read each other's minds from different rooms. They loved each other so passionately and stuck together through life's difficulties no matter what came their way. Now, as a grandfather, what once seemed a bit callous, or strict, simply melted away when Denise – my daughter – was born. Suddenly he became the jolliest man on earth and what seemed to have already been the nicest man you've met, soon became a father all over again! One that would now allow the play dolls to be spread about the bed and giving her chocolates. He would allow Denise to get away with everything that he used to reprimand me for… it was quite a beautiful change, and I am glad that she was able to receive such love. Finally, as a father… MY FATHER, whom I am so proud to say such a thing, was a genuine superhero - MY superhero. He instilled in me the essence of what a man should be. He brought about a family legacy that will span and defeat the tests of time. He may have been strict with me most of my life, making sure I wouldn't make his past mistakes, but as we always find when we come of age: Daddy knows best, and he taught me well. The love and compassion that my father gave to the world one person at a time touched so many people and made a difference in so many people's lives. Today, I hope that you all could do the same; don't allow his efforts to dissipate in vain. Help your family, help your friends, help those you don't know. We all need a helping hand sometimes, and it only takes one genuine act of kindness to start a positive chain reaction that can reach even the most devastated person on the brink of collapse. Again, thank you all. God bless and peace be with you.
