Creating your optimal profile in Energy and Environment writing

Your Scripted profile is the first thing clients see when considering who to hire for their engineering freelance writing jobs. Since engineering is a specialized and knowledge-rich field to write for, you must illustrate your expertise and authority in the field of engineer for which you want to write. Your profile should include:

  • A well-lit picture of your smiling face.
  • A brief summary establishing your authority and expertise.
  • Writing samples that support clients' decisions to hire you to write their engineering freelance writing jobs.

If you are just starting your freelance career and do not have any writing samples, post spec articles to your personal blog, Medium.com, or your LinkedIn profile. As more of your paid engineering freelance writing jobs are published, simply update your profile writing samples.

How To Create Long-term Relationships with Clients on Scripted

Even though partnering with Scripted means total flexibility and freedom to work from wherever you want on your terms, there is still great potential to develop long-term relationships with clients so that you're on the top of the list to be hired for new engineering freelance writing jobs, and even possibly other industries. Establishing rapport with the clients is fairly simple.

Introduce yourself when you're hired for an engineering freelance writing job through the messaging platform. Thank them for the opportunity to work on their project and ask any questions that came up while reviewing the content brief.

Deliver your work on time, if not early. Before submitting your work, double-check the content brief to ensure you followed all the guidelines.

And that's it! Your high-quality work will be noticed by clients, especially for a field as specialized and technical as engineering.

The Benefit of SmartMatch for Engineering Freelance Writers on Scripted

SmartMatch jobs are first-come, first-served to writers who meet specific criteria for engineering freelance writing jobs. If you claim a SmartMatch job, you can skip the pitching process and get to work immediately. The sooner you complete your job, the sooner you get paid!

How To Create Pitches to Win Jobs

If you have knowledge of engineering industries and an interest in building a freelance writing career that gives you flexibility and freedom, you'll find that your expertise and writing skills are in great demand.

For engineering freelance writing jobs that don't fall under the SmartMatch umbrella, you'll be required to submit a pitch before getting hired. To stand out from other applicants and optimize your chances of being hired for these jobs there are a few guidelines to follow:

  • Include one or two sentences about your vision for the client's job.
  • Illustrate why you're an authority who can deliver high-quality technical work for engineering freelance writing jobs.
  • Include links to other engineering writing you've completed in the past.

If the client selects you for their engineering freelance writing jobs, your writer's dashboard will notify you that your proposal has turned into a job and you can start writing immediately!

Set Prices Your Knowledge and Experience Deserve

When you pitch an idea on Scripted, you get to set a price that you believe is fair to the client and your experience. Clients can even send you an additional tip to reward you for excellent work.

Every project has a minimum price that ensures writers get paid a fair amount. You always control how much you charge, but the minimum prevents writers from drastically undercutting each other for jobs.

Manage All of Your Clients From One Dashboard

As a freelance writer, staying organized can be a big challenge. As a Scripted writer you can manage all your customers, jobs, and pitches in one dashboard so you know what to prioritize and what stage every job is in. Each job is placed in one of these four stages:

  • Proposals – pitches that clients are still considering.
  • Writing – assignments with upcoming deadlines.
  • Editing – projects in the editing stage before they get sent to clients.
  • Ready for Review – jobs now in clients' hands ready for acceptance.

You can also use the Scripted dashboard to manage your Writer Portfolio, writing samples, payments, and job invitations.
