I'm totally obsessed with Audrey Hepburn. If you think of the word "icon" there are few people that would match the description more than her. The actress has been an inspiration to movie fans for generations due to her eye-catching beauty and timeless style in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's and My Fair Lady. Not only was Audrey Hepburn stunningly beautiful, she was also very talented. She was the first actress to win a Golden Globe, an Academy Award and a BAFTA for a single performance. She was also a trained ballet dancer, and could speak numerous languages including English, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. In her later life she devoted her time to working with UNICEF. Audrey lived her life to the full, taking each day as it comes and went out of her way to help others. These are all lessons that we should try and incorporate into our own lives on a daily basis. 1. Seize the day "Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don't want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future." "I've been lucky. Opportunities don't often come along. So, when they do, you have to grab them." It's so important to seize the moment you're in, don't focus on the negatives and just enjoy what's happening around you. 2. Don't worry what anyone else thinks "I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people's minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing." People will always try to label you, so don't try to live up to other people's expectations and instead do what makes you happy. 3. Step outside your comfort zone "I was asked to act when I couldn't act. I was asked to sing 'Funny Face' when I couldn't sing, and dance with Fred Astaire when I couldn't dance – and do all kinds of things I wasn't prepared for. Then I tried like mad to cope with it." In life, there will always be things you don't think you can do, but as long as you give it a good go and push yourself like crazy you'll be fine. Even if you fail, you should try, you might discover that you have talents you didn't know you had. 4. Believe in yourself "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!" "I decided, very early on, just to accept life unconditionally; I never expected it to do anything special for me, yet I seemed to accomplish far more than I had ever hoped. Most of the time it just happened to me without my ever seeking it." You have to be prepared to deal with the hand you get, instead of blaming bad luck just believe in yourself and accept that good things take work. 5. Always think of other people. "As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others." It can be hard to be conscientious when you're focused on your career, but thinking of other people can bring you a lot of satisfaction. Not only will you be able to say that you tried your best to avoid being selfish, but others will take notice. 6. And finally… be happy. "I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles." "The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it's all that matters." It's so important to just be happy, you get one chance to make the best of your life so you should try your hardest to enjoy it. Do what makes you happy and forget the little negative things, because after all they only matter if you spend too much time thinking about them, instead collect happy moments and have fun!
