Atlanta's Top 5 Desserts and Bakeries Savory Delights Atlanta's known for its southern hospitality, and comforting cuisine. It's also home to some of the top-rated bakeries and desserts in the south. I traveled all over the historical city in my quest to find its hidden delectable treasures. The challenge of tasting so many delightful desserts, didn't seem much like a challenge at all. My childhood dream of finding the golden ticket had finally come true. From a European style restaurant and coffee bar, to a popular boutique cupcakery, I've searched far and wide and found Atlanta's Top Bakeries and Desserts. Enjoy! 1. Cafe Intermezzo ~ White Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake Walking into this European style restaurant and bakery immediately transports you to nineteenth century Vienna. Its great for a first date, dinner and dessert with friends, or a place to mingle for single newbies to the city. I was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices, but the White Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake is hands down my favorite, its a triple whipped mousse infused with amaretto & white chocolate chunks on a graham cracker crust. Alpine Bakery ~ Million Dollar Cake Alpine Bakery located in Alpharetta is one of Atlanta's premiere bakeries and has won many awards for it's scrumptious creations. I had a hard time choosing one favorite, the Red Velvet and Tiramisu cake were both amazing, but hands down the best dessert in the house is the Million Dollar Cake. The three decadent layers of chocolate cake, NY cheesecake and rich chocolate mousse are to die for. Alpine Bakery is a sweets lovers heaven. www.alpinebakeryandtrattoria.com 3. Piece of Cake ~ Caramel Layer Cake Piece of Cake is a dessert paradise. When you think of giving a gift, dessert isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Giving a loved one a cake or dessert from a Piece of Cake is the best gift you can give them. There are lots of delicious cakes and treats to choose from, they even have a gluten free menu. The Caramel Layer Cake is an old-fashioned treat without all the frills, its yellow cake layers with caramel icing makes this old time favorite unforgettable. Sweet Cheats ~ Strawberry Shortbread Cheesecake Cupcake Cheating is wrong but Sweet Cheats makes it right! Sweet Cheats in Cabbagetown specializes in single serving desserts, allowing you to create a box full of your favorites. My favorite is the Sweet & Sinful Strawberry Shortbread Cheesecake Cupcake with strawberry buttercream cheese icing. Cami Cakes ~ Red Velvet Cupcakes Cami Cakes is a popular boutique cupcakery with unforgettable flavors that will knock you off your feet. The Red Velvet is a southern favorite, and Cami Cakes got it right, the Red Velvet cake cupcake comes with cream cheese frosting studded with lightly toasted pecans. No matter how hard you try you can't eat just one.
