Recycle Today for a Better Tomorrow
RIVERDALE is looking to the future as they expect citizens will vote yes to the newly approved 2-can curbside recycling program proposal brought to a referendum by the Riverdale Town Board for the upcoming Nov. 3 election.
The 2-can curbside recycling program will allow for Riverdale residents to dispose of their recyclables in assigned bins, instead of having to use the rarely used drop off at the edge of town. These bins will be conveniently taken to the curb once a week along with the residents' trash bins and hauled away by Riverdale City Haulers.
By implementing this new program, the city of Riverdale is hoping to provide its residents with a reliable, convenient way to recycle and clean up the city.
The Illinois municipal solid waste landfills report to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IL EPA) each year.
"During 2018, 38 landfills reported receiving over 47 million gate cubic yards of waste," said the IL EPA.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency made a report that "2-can recycling will reduce the amount going to landfill by 35%".
Riverdale is asking its residents to recycle today for a better tomorrow. The new curbside recycling program will allow residents to make a cleaner future for Riverdale.
For Riverdale residents who want to find out more, the city will hold a Fall Harvest Park Fair on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. There residents will be able to join in food, fun, and get registered to vote yes to the 2-can curbside recycling program proposal on Nov. 3, 2020.
