Charles is a freelance writer based in Louisville, Kentucky, who has published feature-length nonfiction pieces on his home state in its variety –– a crossroads store in tobacco country, a stay with Trappist monks in Gethsemani Abbey, and a memoir of a friend who died in the opioid epidemic, among others. He earned his bachelor's in English from the University of Iowa and he his master's in Creative Writing Nonfiction at City University London. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and teaches courses on journalism at Indiana University Southeast. He has worked as a copywriter and proofreader for eight years and can adapt his writing style to a range of assignments –– polishing Q&A pieces for startups, turning around blog posts within the hour, or retooling personal and business biographies and brands.
