A New Parents Guide to Nashville

This is a writing sample from Scripted writer Trevor Davis

Nashville is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in America. The city's charm stems from its eclectic neighborhoods, each with their own personality. As a parent, you'll want to explore all that Nashville has to offer! Let this guide be your starting point for exploring Music City as a new parent.

You're never too far from an excellent coffee shop, some of the best restaurants in the country, and plenty of playgrounds for your kids. In this Nashville Guide for New Parents we've compiled our favorite spots and neighborhoods where you'll have everything you need at arm's reach.

The Best Neighborhoods in Nashville for New Parents

First up is The Gulch. The Gulch is a great place for parents to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of downtown. You'll find a great selection of shops and restaurants if you're in need of some retail therapy or a relaxed patio. This is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Nashville. It's got a lot to offer with coffee shops, restaurants and bars, as well as plenty of parks for your children to play at! You'll find the tourist favorite "What Lifts You Wings Mural" in The Gulch, and all types of cuisine to eat to your heart's desires.

In Belmont, you'll find the beautiful Vanderbilt University and plenty of gorgeous houses. You'll also find plenty of green space to enjoy as well. Belmont offers new parents a variety of things to do like shopping, dining and exploring. Head down 12th Avenue to Bartaco for some of our favorite tacos in town!

Berry Hill is one of Nashville's most creative neighborhoods, with its funky shops and galleries. Check out the Nashville Zoo and enjoy their adorable baby animal exhibits. This is a great neighborhood for parents looking to be near the airport, schools or parks.

Head over to Hillsboro Village; a charming area filled with upscale boutiques selling everything from clothing to gifts for friends or family back home. Hillsboro Village is one of the best places to be if you have small kids that need their fix of ice cream or pizza on any given day. Enjoy breakfast at Pancake Pantry and then take a walk in Warner Parks - a perfect space to let your little ones run around outside!

If you want to hop across the Cumberland river, head over to the neighborhood of Inglewood. We love it because there are parts of it that are family friendly and parts of it that are more upscale. There's plenty to do at Two Rivers park, from enjoying a round of golf, taking the kids to the park, skate park or wave pool!

Are you ready for some fun in the heart of Nashville? We've got so much happening downtown! From country music or a Predator's game at Bridgestone Arena, to honky-tonk bars on Broadway; from art around Centennial Park to museums in the East End, there is something for everyone here.

When you have time without the kids, your downtown adventure should include a visit to Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, a country music institution known for its live acts and cold beer! Some of our favorite spots away from the busy music scene include the Tennessee State Museum, The Johnny Cash Museum and the Frist Center for Visual Arts. You'll also love a walk around the Tennessee State Capitol.

With its wide variety of shops, restaurants and activities, there's always something new around every corner. And did we mention live music?

Last but not least, let's take a look at Buena Vista Heights, up in North Nashville.

You'll find the Watkins College of Art, which is a great place for the kids to explore creativity. Head on over to the Buena Vista Park and let your little ones run around outside! There are plenty of spots to grab a bite, and we recommend The Southern V for plant-based southern fare, and Big Al's Family Owned Deli for a classic southern comfort diner experience.

You're also just minutes away from the top-rated used car dealer in Nashville, EchoPark Automotive. Located just on Rosa L Parks Boulevard, you can drop in and chat with their friendly staff when you're ready to upgrade to a more spacious vehicle.

Go see for yourself why they're the favorite used car dealer in Nashville! You'll feel comfortable to leave your kids to watch TV in their lounge while they help find you your dream family vehicle, like one of these 15 safest family-vehicles.

The EchoPark Automotive Team is super kind and they also want our city to be your perfect place for having fun with a young family.

If you're ready for a new family vehicle and want to ride around town in style, stop by their showroom or visit the EchoPark website.

We hope you enjoyed this Nashville Guide for New Parents!
