5 Popular Marketing Twitter Chats to Join This Spring

Twitter marketing chats offer continued education on key industry advances.

No matter what industry you're in, it's best to stay up to date on the latest news while networking with others. In content marketing, it's essential. Fortunately, the online marketing community in Twitter makes this easy. If you follow these Twitter chat hashtags you won't feel left behind again.

#MMchat

This chat takes place every Monday at 8 p.m. EST and allows social media and marketing experts take the reins and discuss marketing tactics that work. Just a few examples of past discussion topics include "How To Do Content Marketing on a Shoestring" and "Improving PR Through Brand Journalism." If these subjects interest you, make sure you clear your schedule Monday night.

#AtomicChat

"Effective Media Buying Tactics" and "Power of Community & How to Connect with Influencers" are a couple examples of subjects that have been discussed.

#SMCHAT

#BrandChat

If you're available earlier on Wednesdays, check out #BrandChat every week at 10 a.m. CT. As you might guess, the main topic of this Twitter chat is branding. Whether you have some questions about branding your business or want to network with others in the same boat, topics like "Brands + Customer Service" might be helpful.

#SEOChat

As you work toward the end of the week, take a look at #SEOChat at 1 p.m. EST on Thursdays. If you want to find out a bit more about marketing using Instagram, Pinterest, and other popular sites, this chat can give you some answers. Plus, you'll learn about the latest search engine algorithms and penalties when it comes to SEO.

Best Ways to Interact with Others on Twitter Chats

Chatting on Twitter is a good way to get your name out there, but interacting in the wrong way during chats could lead to a missed opportunity (see also: 5 Examples of Bad Social Media Responses). The first step is to introduce yourself, stating your name, location, and perhaps what you are hoping to learn from the chat.

Once the chat gets going, take advantage of every opportunity to be helpful. This might include providing links or responding to questions when you know the answer. Just double check the rules of the chat first, since some do not allow outside links, at least until the chat is over. But as long as your links are truly helpful and not self-serving or disruptive, those in the chat should appreciate them.

You can also promote others in the chat by retweeting them when they write something insightful or helpful. And while this is certainly the best place to ask any questions you have, avoid taking over the chat with a slew of questions or comments about yourself.

In general, this is the time to both learn something new and add valuable information to the conversation. If you simply sit back and say nothing, you'll miss out on the chance to network with others and get your name out there.
